This is who my kid is (he). This is who I am (she). This is who our community is (they). We are all family (we)!
Day 28—I am thankful that, at times, my son equates all women with me. For example, like most people, we are listening to holiday music. He has said, “Mama, she’s pretty just like you! She’s a princess too, I think!” about Jessica Simpson (I have blonde hair, kinda), Mariah Carey (when my hair is curled), and Cascada (again with the blonde hair). While I am not a particular fan of any of these 3 women—we are enjoying their holiday music. And thank you baby that you see me as a skinny, gorgeous, famous person!
We drove up and saw that Grandpa had put up the lights on the house while we were are school/work. He left them on so they would be gorgeous and bright when we got home.
My reaction: *Screaming!* Awwwwww Grandpa put up our lights! K-man look!!!
K’s reaction: “It’s like magic! So pretty Mommy!”
Yes baby! It’s so very magical!!!
Day 26—Thankful for this. So proud.
HUGS! I am thankful for hugs. They get me through some tough days, situations, conversations and moments! I am blessed with a kid who LOVES to give and receive hugs! I am a hugger people, KNOW THIS!!!
I am thankful for family—by blood or by choice. K and I are so blessed with so many friends who we consider and call family. Our lives are also very full of enormous amounts of love from biological family. We are truly grateful!
Day 13—I am thankful that our house is full of music. As most of you know—we listen to a lot of music! We sing. We dance. We listen to Pandora, we listen to music on the TV, we listen to music ALL THE TIME. For the first year that K was home, we didn’t watch TV in our house, but we always had music on! Not only that, there is no shame in him shaking his booty in public either. We also like to dance a lil bit while drawing or coloring! I am thankful that we love music and ain’t afraid to show it!
Day 10—National Adoption Awareness Month! I am so very thankful for our community of families who share our journey to being a family. K and I are blessed with friends who look like us, know the “lingo” and who are passionate about giving kids forever families and a loving home! Our life is full and we know how truly blessed we are to be surrounded by people who “get” it!
